Restoring his saints to the work of ministry

To me Living Free means exactly what it says.  Free from not only the bondage of drugs and alcohol, but from the mental contamination that this world so easily ensnares us.  Living Free is not only a Regeneration Program.  It’s a family.  A group of people that God chose to seek and support His Kingdom right here in Snow Camp.  It’s not just six guys whose lives have changed because they hear and listen to God’s Spirit.  It is everyone that loves and supports us.  This alone ministers to us in God’s own special way.
Through Living Free, I have made friends that are more true than I’ve ever known.  A true friend is loyal and loving at all times, always available to help with personal struggles and in times of distress.  Sound like Jesus?  I believe I’ve found my most important Friend right here at Living Free.
What Living Free has done for me and my family cannot be found in many places.  I have never even heard of or experienced anything like it.  It is not “just some walk in the park” and your life changes.  It’s tough!  It’s not just a nine month commitment and you’re done.  It’s a huge jump start to practicing and walking out a relationship with Jesus Christ for the rest of my life.
My life has done a 180° since I’ve been at Living Free.  I came from a place in my life where I was internally dead trying to fill the desires of my heart with chemicals and sin.  I couldn’t get away from it even when I wanted to so bad.  I tried everything...I thought.  Finally, I came to  my end, had nowhere to go, turned around and realized I had run from This Man who was with me all along whispering, “Stop Chris.”  As soon as I reached out, He delivered me and brought me to Living Free.  Now, we hang out all the time.  This Man is Jesus.

Living Free Ministries has been a miracle for me. I had been kicked out of my mother's home where I lived with my daughter. My daughter stayed with my mom and I ended up in a weekly rate motel drinking vodka to death. I had been calling to others for help. One morning, I woke up in the motel room from a drunk and Jay Doss's number was on a note there. I called Jay. He and Chris Yerton immediately traveled three hours to get me, probably saving my life. There was not that many people that would do that today.

After a few days in detox, I arrived at Living Free Ministries. I am the first man in the "program". It is beautiful here on the farm. I have a daily quiet time where I meet with God to worship and hear from Him. I keep a daily journal and I write to God about my day, giving thanks, praying for loved ones, and praying for others that are out there in their addictions. We have prayer and Bible study. We attend a great church called The Lamb's Chapel. We also work on the farm. Currently, I am using my skills as a carpenter to remodel the farm house. This farm house will soon be home to 6 men like myself.

God is working a miracle here and I am truly blessed to be a part of it.

I was born in Alamance County in 1990. I was raised in a good Christian home. I was a fairly good student and good at sports. When I was about 12 years old, I started using drugs. From there, I gradually progressed into more explicit drug use, and finally hit rock bottom. My life was pretty much over, at least I thought. I ended up in the Alamance County Jail. While there, I prayed for the first time in a while. I asked the Lord what to do. He told me to get some kind of help. It's pretty crazy how it all worked out. Over the next few days, after letting my mom and my lawyer know that I wanted help, my mom found out about Living Free Ministries. I was able to get an interview while in jail with Jay Doss and Geoff Sutton. I just knew that this was the place for me. Living Free was in the works while I was in jail and it was like it was meant just for me! After Mr. Doss had prayed about my request, they accepted me into the program. This is what was meant to happen all along. God has blessed me with a great opportunity and I am so thankful.

The reason I am in the program is to find my way back into the path that the Lord Jesus Christ has set for me. I want to be equipped with the tools that I need to go into the world and be a warrior for my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I want to find a better way of life other than running to an addiction.

From here, I plan on being the man that the Lord wants me to be. I want to be used to help others in the same situation that I was in. I plan on being the son that my parents have hoped for, and a brother to my sisters and brother. The Lord has blessed me so much. I am thankful that He has saved me from death.
